The California 23rd Political Club

Latest Updates

The political situation has become much worse since this web site was started. We are headed down a bad fork in the road. One that, with a high probability, leads to the loss of our democracy. Please go to the letters section of this site Letters

Like a Kitten

As this web site attests, I am doing everything I can think of to have a political effect. I frequently ask others to join me. Or tell me how to join them. At this writing the only response has been from someone who made it clear he was not about to help or change his mind.

I feel like a kitten meowing into a hurricane. I wrote a short essay about that and put it here.

Please take a look and become politically active. Maybe start with the blogs or the letters section of this site.

Why? And Why Now?

One of the most critical cornerstones of democracy is fulfilled after each election. It is when those who lose concede defeat and accept that someone else has won. In 2016, even before the election, the Republican nominee declared that he would not accept a loss.

When the votes were counted in Nov 2020, he refused to accept his defeat. He proclaims he won, but has never provided one shred of evidence. He and those who profess loyalty to him tried to overthrow the election. They tried to overthrow our government. And they still continue those efforts. All the while proclaiming themselves to be patriots.

This is a direct attack upon our democracy.

This behavior puts our democracy in peril like never before. Now, in multiple states, the Republicans are passing laws giving themselves the right to overthrow an election and declare themselves the winners. In October 2021 the Brennan Center for Justice reported that 19 states had enacted 33 restrictive voting laws, with more on the way. The clear goal of the Republicans is to remain in power at any and all costs.

We have less than one year to act. We must act now to stop this behavior before the 2022 midterms.

Maybe you protest, I don’t have time to run for office, make phone calls, or write letters. If so, please imagine yourself and this country a few years from now. The Republicans have assumed power and only Republicans can get elected. We are no longer a democracy.

How much time might you have then to regret not taking action back in 2021 or in 2022? Once we get there, we cannot turn back the clock.

Please join us. Or tell us how to join you.

Recent Changes

A new bulletin board (forum) has been added. You may go there by clicking Community

All residents of Rosamond are requested to join. As experience is gained, all residents of the California 23rd Congressional district are requested to join. The purpose of the forum is to meet, greet, and to exchange ideas of what actions might be appropriate, and how to implement those actions.

Forum Moderators and Administrators Needed

If you are experienced at being a forum moderator, or are ready to learn, please contact us and volunteer.

Future Change, Virtual Meetings

As we get some members and some activity, we can incorporate virtual meetings. I have used MS Teams, and Zoom but but only as a user. I am not well versed in them. Those of you that are knowledgeable are asked to join and contribute.

Site Perspective

This site was and created and is owned by by a former Republican. More than three decades ago, and around the time Gingrich rose to prominence as Speaker of the House, the behavior of the Republican party had become so bad that having my name associated with that party was too much to bear, I removed my name from their rolls and never returned.

The party has continued to go downhill since then. It has struck new lows in every election cycle since. After nominating and electing Trump, how much lower is it possible to go?

After watching Trump's bad behavior for more than four years, more then 74 million Republicans still voted for him. How much lower can they go?

As this is being written, the Republican Party has accepted that challenge.

This country may not survive without two viable parties, both committed to the continuance of our democracy. The Republican Party has long since lost that perspective. Their primary goal is no longer the welfare of our democracy. Their goal is now power at any cost.

For the foreseeable future, this site will be dedicated towards the goal of removing most, or at least many, Republicans from elected office.

There is so much that needs to be written on this topic. Far more than an opening page can endure. The point of this section is be up-front with the perspective and goals of this web site.

Mid-term elections

The 2022 midterms are not a far away as we may think. Now is the time to plan for them. Now is the time to set the foundations. In particular, we, U.S. Citizens, need to get many of the current Repuplican office holders, out of office.

When campaign times rolls around, there will be many things we need to remembered. Many things to take to debates and campaign rallies. But remembering those things can be difficult. To that end, two new sets of pages are being developed: The Larger Scope, and The CA23rd Scope.

The Larger Scope is planned to cover state and nation wide events and things that need to be remembered in near future elections.

The CA23rd Scope is directed at the California 23rd Congressional District. We need a new representative in the House.

Location

This site has been established for the organization known as the California 23rd. We were founded by residents of Rosamond Ca., are home based here, and will reach out to all the neighboring communities within the California 23rd Congressional district.

Readers who do not reside in the CA23rd are welcome to join. To those who wish to have an effect on politics within the CA23rd, withing California, and within these United States, you are invited.

Meetings and Membership

Rosamond is quite small and there are few places available for meetings.

Rosamond Branch Public Library

The library is open on Mondays and Tuesdays only and closes at 6:00 PM. This leaves little time for people to return home from work and join a meeting. The library only has space for about 20 to 30 people on an informal basis. They have a larger meeting room that seats a hundred or more, but the fee is $400.

Guido's at the Hangar

Guido's has a large back room suitable to gatherings. There is a minimum purchase fee that must be met. As more people join, that may become a viable meeting place.

Hummel Hall

Hummel Hall is located at 2500 20th St West in Rosamond. It is currently reserved for COVID vaccinations. There is no word as to when it might be available to be used for other purposes.

Suggestions Requested

If you have suggestions and/or can provide a location, such as at a church facility, please advise.

We need a webmaster.
