Constitutional Amendments

A Request: I am not good at managing web pages. If you would like to help, please send a note to the email address at the bottom of this page.

There is now a pressing need for some constitutional amendments. This is the introductory page where each proposed amendment is briefly named with a short description. A complete page is devoted to each amendment and a link provided to the page.

Comments and suggestions are explicitly solicited.

Supreme Court

The recent behavior of the Republican led Senate has been hypocritical to the extreme. Membership of the Court has been contentious since the early days of the Constitution. Qualifications of prospective members is not specified. These things may only be corrected by a Constitutional amendment. Please visit that page here

Citizens United versus FEC

The Supreme Court decision known as Citizens United versus Federal Election Commission, 21 January 2010, is an unmitigated disaster. There is evidence from history that the concepts brought about by big money and big companies having political power played major roles in the downfall of Rome and of the city/state of Venice. Presidential Pardon

The constitution very carefully instituted a system of checks and balances with the three branches of government, legislative, executive, and judicial. The presidential pardon is not subject to a check and balance. The resident of the oval office has made it clear that he will use the power of the pardon for his personal benefits at the expence of this country. We must presume that a future president will eventually do the same. Please visit that page here

Checks and Balances

The Constitution is written with the concepts of checks and balances. This is supported in many of the Federalist Papers. No one department should be allowed to garner too much authority. However, the Constitution is sorely lacking in how these checks and balances are to be implemented. There is no explicit enforcement of checks and balances.

The Trump administration attempts to take advantage of this by outright and blatantly stonewalling Congress. This needs to be corrected. Checks and balances need to have their own check and balances.

Additional Amendments

As noted there will be additions in the near future.
